Mission Statement
The mission of the 32nd Judicial Family Preservation Court is to support the integrity of the family unit by improving the quality, safety, and welfare of the children affected by substance abuse, by supporting reunification in the short term and the long-term recovery of parents from alcohol and drug use through judicial accountability and enhanced access to best practice comprehensive treatment, during and after 32nd Judicial Family Preservation Court.
Program Summary & Benefits
Family Preservation Court is a program that focuses on parents with substance use disorder and who are involved with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). We provide a chance to collaborate biweekly with the Judge presiding over the custody case as well as the rest of the FPC team (attorneys, DCFS, CASA, treatment providers). Parents will develop a one-on-one relationship with the judge and team, ensuring that they are frequently and accurately updated on their successes, challenges and needs. This ensures that by their next court date, the judge and the parent are on a first name basis.
Because every parent is different, FPC offers parents an individualized treatment plan for their unique situation; one which is customized to fit their specific goals and requirements.
Finally, FPC provides legal, social, mental and emotional support for parents to help them get through the hardest time in their lives and to equip them with a toolbox full of skills and healthy practices that will help the parents for the rest of their lives.
